What it means
The person or organisation recorded as the vehicle’s keeper on the registration certificate. The keeper and legal owner can be different.
The V5C identifies the keeper for registration records and official correspondence; it is not proof of ownership. For example, ownership and use can sit with different parties under a finance or company arrangement. Keep the purchase or finance evidence separately from registration paperwork.
Before an import application is prepared, establish whose keeper details should be recorded and make sure the name and address are accurate. If the arrangement is unclear, explain it before the form is completed. Correct contact details help ensure questions and registration documents reach the right person.
