The notification used by HMRC to record a vehicle’s arrival as part of the permanent import process.
For a permanent car import, check the 14-day HMRC notification requirement and who is responsible for handling it. The route depends on the destination, VAT status and how the vehicle arrives. Private importers into Great Britain should follow the current CARS team or shipping/customs-agent instructions rather than assume they must use the online service themselves.
Keep the notification outcome with the vehicle’s customs records. NOVA is separate from DVLA registration and does not itself provide a UK registration number or permission for everyday road use.
